The Speech writing task is a type where a speaker conveys information to the audience on any specific topic. It is the art of using words in a way that reaches the audience, captivates them, and conveys the information the speaker is willing to convey. This is a strong form of communication and a way of expressing oneself but can sometimes include persuasion too.
The speech structure can be divided into two stages:
1. Preparation of Speech - How well you write the speech and the words you use to create an impact on the audience is the preparation.
2. Deliverance of Speech - This is how well you present your speech, the tone modulation, emphasis on the right words like parts of speech, and body language which play a key role.
In this blog, we will be focusing on speech writing in English. So, when you are asked to write down and prepare it, you should have a clear structure first. Thus, we will start with the structure.
If you are planning to deliver a flawless speech, then you must first begin with a strong foundation. So, you must have a clear and strong speech format to ensure a smooth writing process. But do you know the one? If not, follow this structure:
This is the first part of the whole speech, and it is the header. So, it must be clear and define the purpose of the speech to the reader shortly and engagingly. This part decides how long your reader will be hooked and the impression they carry about your work. So, you must have a hook to grab the reader's attention, just like we do in essay writing tasks.
The body can further be divided into sections dedicated to specific points. It can start with the main point, the second point, and so on. Moreover, each of them can have further explanations based on the topic's requirements. So, we have a dedicated section for each topic, like in paragraph writing. The main point will have explanation 1, explanation 2, and so on. This format of speech segregates thoughts based on their importance and emphasis on the audience.
The final part is the closing or conclusion of the speech. Here, you restate the purpose of the speech, focus on the key pointers, and add a thought-provoking call-to-action or a sentence. This is the end of the speech and, thus, must leave a lasting impact on the audience. But it shouldn't state a new piece of information, or it might confuse.
So, this is the speech writing format one should follow to ensure their piece of work is like art and can serve the purpose of impressing the audience. However, you cannot impress them if you do not come up with an effective speech. So, let's check out how to draft one.
If you want to write a piece that catches everyone's attention, then you must focus on the key elements of speech. When you have a good grip on the right areas, you can easily grab the audience's attention. So, let's check out what they are:
Nothing can beat a strong opening statement that grabs the audience's attention and hooks them to your speech. So, you should come up with a captivating opening for your speech.
No matter what you say, it cannot be conveyed clearly without supporting evidence. Sometimes, facts also need to be proven true. So, stick to this: add supporting evidence and strong examples to every point you speak.
When you cover different points, you need a clear transition. The speech writing format differs when you deliver it. So, you must also ensure the flow is smooth during the process, and you can use the right verbs and adjectives for this.
You need to work on your timing to ensure your speech is delivered within the scheduled period. Moreover, you should also focus on how much time you can dedicate to different segments and topics of the speech.
Writing a speech can sound easy, but delivering it is a completely different chapter. So, you should practice in front of a mirror or with friends, work on your tone and body language, and improve your delivery.
These are some key elements of speech that one should keep in mind while drafting or delivering one. Let's understand these better with a few samples.
In this section, we will look into some speech writing examples to understand how to write an effective piece and deliver it to the audience. So, let’s check them out!
Why Reading Books Is a Great Habit
Good Morning Everyone
I am XYZ and would like to thank the dignitaries on the stage for giving me this opportunity to share my opinions on the topic, “Why reading books is a great habit.”
Today, I am going to talk about a habit that has the power to guarantee success in our lives - reading books. It is a well-known saying, "Never Judge a Book by Its Cover." But, if you ask me, I would say you should judge a person by the book he reads. Reading is not a mere habit but a life-changing step because of its perks.
Firstly, reading helps you improve your language. When you read, you recite the sentences in your mind, which improves your sentence formation skills. You come across new words in the books that can help you build your vocabulary. Different books have different ways of putting things. So, you come across different styles of writing. Ultimately, reading helps you improve your language.
The second thing is that you get access to a wide range of information. Along with learning the language, you also learn a lot from books. There are different genres of books, and each book carries information about different things. So, when you read a book, you get access to all that information, and over time, you can gain immense knowledge on any topic of your choice.
Thirdly, reading books takes you into a new world. Yes, when you read, you get into an imaginative world that alerts your mind, makes it sharp, and you, smarter than before. This helps you deal with different types of emotions and prepare for a variety of situations. It trains you mentally for realistic and unrealistic situations and strengthens you emotionally and mentally.
Moreover, you relax when you read as it calms your mind. You get so engrossed in reading that you improve your focus and stop overthinking, which usually stresses you out. So, reading can be that relaxing hobby which holds your emotions and helps you grow.
In conclusion, reading is a habit that has the power to direct your life onto the path of success. You get to improve focus, concentration, language, mental well-being, and emotional health, calm your mind, and a lot more. So, let's start building this habit and make our lives better. Start with one page per day or 10 minutes per day, and find your way ahead into your imaginative world.
Thank You!
Why Time Management Is Important?
Good Morning, Everyone!
Today, I am here to talk about the most underrated skill- Time Management. Everyone knows that time is the most precious thing in this world, but only a few treat it the right way. And those are the ones who succeed in life. Time management is often neglected or not considered important, though everyone must know about it and practice it to succeed in life.
Firstly, time management is not making a table and following a robotic schedule. It is about understanding your productivity levels and priority tasks and preparing a routine that meets your requirements and gets the best of the day. So, having a schedule that works for you is time management, and it has enormous perks.
The first one is obviously to have more time. Yes, it might sound ironic, but when you manage your time the right way, you observe you have the exact 24 hours that everyone does. Moreover, you get to do what you want to with those 24 hours. All you need to do is eat the big frog, and ta-da! All the time in the world is yours.
Secondly, you beat procrastination. Many times, it is not the task that is tough, but the procrastination that adds stress, and now that task is scarily challenging. But, when you beat procrastination, you have a free mind with no stress of any pending tasks, and you get the satisfaction of completing the important job.
Third in line is work-life balance. Whether it's for students or working professionals, your life is well-balanced when you have your time managed right. You can study, play, and learn new skills when you have the right time to do your priority tasks.
Speaking about that, the fourth point is prioritizing the right things. When you stop procrastinating and get things done on time, you understand your priorities. Now, you get to decide what is important and goes up on the list and what can wait for later without causing any harm.
Finally, you get to improve your decision-making skills. Since you do not have the pressure of pending tasks, your mind will be clearer. Moreover, with no deadline hanging over your head, you can think without any pressure. So you can make clearer and more effective decisions.
In conclusion, time management is an important skill that can help you achieve success in life. When you plan well, avoid procrastination, and set your priorities clearly, you make the right decisions that can lead you to success. So, let's start managing our time well and take control of our future.
