Here is the first sample response for achieving 8+ band scores in your cue card round.
Watching movies is one of my favourite things to do in my free time. I have seen many films in my lifespan including action, comedy, romance and many more. But today I would like to talk about a film that impressed me a lot.
One of my all-time favourite movies that impressed me a lot is “Drishyam 2” directed by Abhishek Pathak. I watched this movie in the theatres with my friends as we all are a great fan of Ajay Devgn and his movies. Also, his first Drishyam was besotted by many people, so I had to watch the second part too. However, thriller movies always excited me since I began to watch films.
“Drishaym 2” revolves around the assassination of a 20-year-old boy ‘Sam Deshmukh’ who is the son of the Inspector General of Goa Police (Meera Deshmukh). The family of Ajay Devgn is accused of the murder of Sam Deshmukh and his mother tries to seek revenge from his family. However, Ajay Devgn does everything immoral to save his family from this murder charge. Also, the film explores how truth can be intuitive and complex.
As I already mentioned, since starting I have been a fan of Ajay Devgn and thriller movies, plus the popularity first Drishyam made was so sensational and prodigious. Other than that, the film is a gripping watch owing to the mystery and the plot it created in the first part. Also, bringing Drishyam’s advantages and disadvantages, Drishyam 2’s narrative makes clear that it doesn’t want to be told as a stand-alone film.
Watching Drishyam and Drishyam 2 was enjoyable. The film is a mix of thriller, horror, drama, and a social message that makes me feel inspired and positive. I thought of telling Drishyam 2 as it is worth watching, and also if you compare the two films, the twists and turns in part 2 seem to be too convoluted and far-fetched to be believable.
Overall, Drishyam 2 is a movie that impressed me a lot and made me speak on it today. Its story, cast, acting, suspense and plot make it a timeless favourite for many people.
The second sample answer is mentioned below that you can use in the IELTS speaking section for a high band score.
In a vast prospect of Indian Cinema, filled with amazing films, there’s only one that impressed me a lot. It’s a film that not only entertained me but also left a huge impact on me.
I watched the film “3 Idiots” directed by Rajkumar Hirani in 2009 which has a special place in my heart. Me and my family watched this movie together during our family movie night, where we chose films that are highly recommended or have gained critical acclaim. The movie had already become so popular, so I was curious to see what made it so special.
“3 Idiots” is a comedic drama that revolves around three students of engineering, Rancho, Farhan, and Raju studying at a high-class engineering institution in India. The story majorly focuses on Rancho’s unusual and innovative approach to education, which conflicts with the normal and stressful academic environment. The movie is a mixture of comedy and drama and portrays the theme of friendship, the pursuit of passion over regular success, and the flaws in the educational system.
I chose to watch “3 Idiots” as it has a strong storyline, filled with hilarious moments and heart-touching scenes that relate to audiences of all ages. In addition, the roles played by Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi bring the real-life characters, making them connected and endearing. Also, the whole film maintained a light-hearted and amusing tone.
I felt grateful watching “3 idiots” that too with my family and it was once in a lifetime experience for me. The film made me laugh, cry, and reflect deeply on my own educational experience and life choices. What made me think about this movie today is how it focuses on rigorous education and memorization but not on creativity. Also, on a personal note, it made me question and realize my dreams, happiness, and following one’s true calling.
Overall, “3 Idiots” is more than just a movie that impressed me a lot. From the iconic “All Izz Well” song to the emotional ending of the annual college reunion, the movie keeps you captivated from start to finish.
Here is the third sample answer you can try for your cue card topic in the IELTS exam.
I am a huge fan of movies and have the highest liking for them. I have watched thousands of movies until today. But today I would like to talk about that particular film which impressed me a lot.
One of the movies that holds a special place in my heart is “Taare Zameen Par”, a Bollywood drama directed by Aamir Khan. I saw it alone on the occasion of Children’s Day last year. It was a film loved by so many people as it depicts childhood struggles and the importance of understanding and nurturing individual talents. The love this film received made me so curious to watch.
“Taare Zameen Par” is a movie about an 8-year-old boy named Ishaan Awasthi, who has dyslexia. This problem makes it hard for him to read, write, and understand the things written in his textbooks. He struggles with his academics and faces the pressure of the society. However, everything changed in the boarding school when his new art teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh, sees Ishaan’s condition and helps him see his talents.
I decided to see this movie as I value education and believe in the unique potential of every child. I was acutely moved by the film’s exploration of learning differences and the power of empathy and compassion. I believe that dyslexia is a topic that people don’t understand well and it needs to be conveyed to society. And “Taare Zameen Par” is one such example of this.
Watching “Taare Zameen Par” was a good experience for me. I felt very emotional while watching the journey of Ishaan as he struggles with school and his self-esteem. Plus, the enthralling storyline, heart-touching performances, and a good message of acceptance make this movie a timeless classic relating to all age groups. What made me think about this movie is how it raised awareness of dyslexia and the difficulties people face in real life.
Overall, this is one such movie that impressed me a lot and touched my heart. This movie stands as a tribute to the power of education, empathy, and the human spirit.
